Meadowsweet is Alice Hedley on vocals and guitar and Lynsey MacRitchie- Mackenzie on fiddle.

Two young mothers far from their homelands of Australia and Scotland, Alice and Lynsey formed a friendship in Calgary around their mutual desire to root their families in a new place, while holding tightly to their own origins. Their blend of Lynsey’s Celtic folk melodies with Alice’s singer-songwriter beach cafe style gives voice to that shared vision. Meadowsweet weaves together sounds of traditional and modern folk, bluegrass and alternative country to tell original stories about beauty in ordinary things.

Their debut album, The Sound of Coming Home, is a snapshot of life in transition. Its nine sonically diverse tracks catalogue the many highs and lows of establishing and cultivating home. It longingly recalls people and places left behind, while delighting in the wonder of new ones. It achingly recounts the pain of infant loss, and glories in the gift of new life. Its melodies, haunting and triumphant, convey strength that is borne of loves old and new.
